TOUCHLESS PROVIDER INTRODUCES INNOVATIVE SOFT TOUCH

St. Louis, MO. - - D&S Car Wash Equipment Company, an industry-leading provider of touchless automatic carwash systems has introduced a new rollover, friction system designed for self-service carwashes and convenience stores. The new system named the Odyssey Soft Touch is constructed of lightweight, durable aluminum and features a pressure sensitive top foam brush and four side foam brushes that wrap around that vehicle to provide a thorough, high quality wash.

The new Odyssey Soft Touch is the third hydraulically designed automatic carwash system from D&S and the first entry for the company in the friction category. Many innovative features have been incorporated into the design of the system as well as a change in the material of construction for D&S who is primarily known as one of the industry's largest suppliers of all-welded stainless steel equipment and components. Aluminum construction provides for a lighter weight system, allowing overhead installation, which promotes a cleaner, open-bay appearance and easier system installation.

The Odyssey is designed with a rollover top foam brush that contours the vehicle to provide a high quality wash. The top brush is dynamically controlled to ensure optimal contact and pressure as it profiles up and down the vehicle. Real time brush speed and pre-programmed "wrap around" mode ensure overlap of the 4 side foam brushes to effectively reach the front and rear of the vehicle, eliminating any possibility of “skunk striping” at the rear of larger trucks, vans and SUV’s.

Other innovative features of the Odyssey include Wheel Blaster technology for high pressure cleaning of the wheels & tires, rocker panels and wheel wells plus a high pressure Rinse can be added to the wash process for even greater cleaning effectiveness. Low pressure wash functions such as Pre-Soak and Tri Gloss multi-color foam are injected into the system by a low pressure pump and manifold assembly for thorough, consistent chemical application.

The Odyssey has been under development since 2003. The new soft cloth system is intended to help D&S expand market share and satisfy a shift in automatic system trends. Overwhelming demand for the new soft touch system currently exceeds production capabilities and is a good testament to the unit’s ability to provide a high end, quality wash process and system benefits that are preferred by today’s professional carwash operator.

The first production unit was recently installed at an existing D&S equipped self-service carwash in Columbia, SC. The official launch of the Odyssey Soft Touch from D&S will take place in Las Vegas during Car Care World Expo ’06.
